DOLLAR BAR – NEW ALBUM!

Dollar-Bar-2013-biopic-300x300Mere Noise are proud to release the new album by Dollar Bar – “Paddington Workers Club”.

Dollar Bar began in Brisbane Australia in 1998 when Dale Peachey released a home-recorded cassette called “Demonstrations” with the intention of forming a revolving line-up around his batch of GBV-inspired songs.
That idea didn’t last very long once Patrick McCabe, Brendan Rosenstengel and Chris Yates collectively wrapped their heads around Dale’s eclectic compositions and formed a steady band.

Dollar Bar gigged in Brisbane frequently and released a string of CD EPs recorded with Bryce Moorhead at Zero Interference. The “Pet Indifference”, “Queen Slipper” and “Journey To The Centre Of Attention” EPs lead the way to a self titled debut album in 2004, by which time Patrick and Chris were contributing songs and lead vocals alongside Dale.

Plenty of JJJ and community radio love came their way – especially at 4ZZZfm in their hometown, where “Cute Gurls Have The Best Diseases” was voted number one in the 2003 Hot 100 poll.

But then – they disappeared.

Now, nine years after that underheralded debut album, Dollar Bar have joined Mere Noise Records to release their second studio album “Paddington Workers Club”.

Named for the long-gone Brisbane venue where Dollar Bar played numerous gigs including a seminal release party for their 2003 “Journey” EP, “Paddington Workers Club” continues the Dollar Bar tradition with a concise collection of new songs, this time presented in as raw and natural state as possible.

MERE NOISE RECORDS 10th BIRTHDAY PARTIES

10 years is a long time to be run an independent record label. It is our birthday and we want you to all come party with us!
Back in 2003 we were wondering how to release our band’s music without having to deal with a record label… the solution… start a record label.
Once the first release came out; “For Those Who Came in Late”, by our band at the time, Vegas Kings we started to get an idea of what we would like to do as a label. Provide an avenue for bands to release music without tying them in to crappy contracts or lose money. We then asked the band we admired the most if we could release their music too and in 1994 The Standing 8 Count’s “Greatest Hits” was released.
Since then we have released over 40 titles of local bands including Hits, Texas Tea, Keep On Dancin’s, The Horrortones, El Borracho, Undead Apes, Tiny Migrants, The Dangermen and Butcher Birds.
In our 10th year we undertook a dream of creating a singles club. Donating 100% of profits to the Black Dog Institute and showcasing bands that have helped or influenced our label and band’s journey. Now in to it’s 7th month, we have released tracks from Cosmic Psychos, Bob Log III, Spencer P Jones, Sixfthick, Digger & The Pussycats with plenty more exciting surprise releases.
To celebrate 10 years of releasing independent music we are throwing 2 FREE parties. Both parties contain bands and musicians that really helped us over our last 10 years. At each event we will have a special guest DJ spinning the entire 2013 Singles Club records as we all a pop up record store and some great giveaways.
Please come along, have a beer and continue to support local independent music.

SATURDAY 8th JUNE!

Its finally happened, the time is nigh. Adam Ape is leaving for the far east, actually the south east but still its far away, and we won’t see him for a very long time.

This calls for a celebration! A somber somber celebration. What better way to celebrate somberly than to queue up for a very long time to drink? Do that while listening to bands!

The Undead Apes have just released their new digital ep “PICK YOUR KING” so this will kinda double as a launch for that, though how you launch a digital property I’ll never know, lets find out together. Anyway details below, be rad and all that.

Undead Apes – Albion Gold – Viscid – Bottlecock
SATURDAY 8th JUNE! –

2013 Singles Club Announced!!

FBOOKBANNER_SINGLESWEB

MERE NOISE RECORDS ANNOUNCE 2013 7″ SINGLE CLUB!

To become a member of the Singles Club CLICK HERE!

2013 is the 10th Anniversary of Mere Noise Records and we are undertaking something we have always wanted to do – A 7” SINGLES CLUB – and best of all 100% of profits will be donated to charity. This will be a very limited run of 7″ vinyl that encompasses a whole lot of bands that helped shape Mere Noise over the last 10 years. Bands and artists that have helped us, worked with us, released through us, influenced us, inspired us! We are very excited to announce some of the amazing acts involved BUT we want to keep a few surprises up our sleeves. Each month of 2013 members will get a split 7″ single delivered to their home. There will only be 150 records pressed and only 120 memberships available worldwide! This is VERY limited. The records will NOT be repressed. There will be NO download codes. You will not be able to listen to them on the internet.

What we can tell you is the first release in January of 2013 will be a split 7″ between the almighty COSMIC PSYCHOS and Brisbane favourites HITS.

HITS – This HITS song has become a crowd favourite despite a recorded version never being released UNTIL NOW! This song will not appear on any other physical release! We don’t have to tell you how much it rules.
Cosmic Psychos – what can we say about the almighty Psychos? Could you get more grunt out of drums bass and guitar? We don’t think so.

Here is a taste of some other bands you will get over the first 6 months…. Bob Log III (USA), Tiny Migrants, Mad Macka, Chinese Burns, Sixfthick + Head On (France) – there are MANY more great artists in the pipeline! DON’T MISS OUT! Memberships are $125 + postage and handling.
